Early morning shed, brush fire keep crews busy

ROCHESTER - A fast moving fire in a pool shed on Sampson Road spread quickly to nearby tinder dry brush and threatened a neighbor's home before firefighters were able to get it under control early today.

Rochester Firefighters responded around 3 a.m. to fire engulfing the large two-story pool shed at 78 Sampson Road as the first unit arrived, Deputy Chief Tim Wilder said today.

"By time we got there the shed was full engulfed, and fire had spread to adjacent woods that encroached on a neighbor's property," Wilder said.

He said with the shed already burning to the ground and dry conditions on the ground, the first attack line was pulled to combat the brush fire, which was quickly knocked down.

Luckily there was little wind to fan the flames, he said.

No one was injured in the blaze, and fire crews cleared the scene around 5 a.m.
