ROCHESTER - A Somersworth pool hall is moving to the former VFW in East Rochester and rebranding itself as Eastside Tavern and Billiards.
Busters Billiards Co-owner Steven Fleming was granted approval for a conditional use permit at Monday's planning board meeting.
Fleming said they have basically outgrown their current location next door to 2 Doors Down off Route 108 in Somersworth.
He said he'll be bringing all 13 pool tables to the Highland Street address and will have a full kitchen preparing meals and appetizers for patrons.
Fleming said there are no immediate plans to change any of the interior except for the addition of a 30-foot bar.
He said he plans to have bands there most Thursdays though Sundays, and will have added security on those nights plus some 20 cameras that will surveil the interior and exterior of the property.
He said on band nights they'd be open till 1 a.m.
Fleming did not mention when he planned to open Eastside Tavern and Billiards during the meeting.
The former VFW was considered a prime option for a third Rochester fire station, but the city decided on 181 Highland Street adjacent to the Bluebird Storage.
