Elderly Nashua woman dies in early morning house fire

NASHUA - An elderly Nashua woman died in an early morning house fire on Wednesday.

Fire and rescue responded to the blaze at 21 Mercury Lane around 1:25 a.m. and found heavy smoke and fire in the building.

During suppression efforts, a victim was located and identified as 79-year-old Lorraine Malignaggi of Nashua.

The cause of death was smoke inhalation and the manner of death was accidental, safety officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
