Elderly pedestrian hurt when struck by pickup truck

ROCHESTER - An elderly Rochester woman was injured when she was struck by a vehicle backing out of Signal Street Variety Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded around 3;30 p.m. to the front of the convenience store where they found that Jane Baker, 74, had been walking on Signal Street and was backed into by a Dodge 1500 pickup driven by John McSharry, 60, of Rochester.

McSharry was backing from a legal parking spot in the front parking lot, police said.

Baker was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.

There was no damage to the truck.
