Elderly Rochester woman dies in Spaulding Turnpike crash

DOVER - An elderly Rochester woman died late Monday night when the car she was driving lost control and skidded off of Route 16 in Dover.

Jacqueline C. McKay, 71, was traveling north on the divided highway toward Rochester when the crash occurred around 11:50 p.m., according to a state police statement.

The car, a 2016 Ford Fiesta, ended up in the treeline near mile marker 13.6 of Route 16, also known as the Spaulding Turnpike.

Troopers found the vehicle with heavy front end damage and the operator dead at the scene. The victim was the lone occupant in the vehicle.

A small section of the right travel lane of Route 16 northbound was closed for approximately two hours as troopers conducted their investigation and the vehicle was removed.

Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene was Dover Fire Department.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
