ROCHESTER - When a Farmington teen convinced a stranger at a Rochester convenience store to buy him some beer he didn’t count on the man taking off with his cash, but he reportedly did.

Rochester Police arrested Kyle McLachlin, 17, of Farmington, N.H., on Monday and charged him with fabricating a robbery report to cover up his attempt to get the man to buy him the brew.

McLachlin originally reported to police he had been knocked to the ground and robbed of his money.

When police responded to Jay’s Discount Tobacco on Wakefield Street they quickly found the stranger and their investigation led to the current charge.

McLachlin was charged with False Reports to Law Enforcement, a misdemeanor, and is free on personal recognizance bail pending an arraignment next month.
