ROCHESTER - Rochester's Farmers Market returns to the Common on Tuesday at 3 p.m. with live entertainment, a bunch of new vendors including one that specializes in just bacon and a great deal for those shopping with EBT cards.

Farmers Market Manager Vicky Poland said the venue has been moved to the ballfield end of the Common to make it easier for vendors to access their vehicles.

She said the market will continue to honor EBT cards, with those using them getting back bonus vouchers equaling twice what they spend. For instance, if an EBT card holder spends $20 at the market, they would get back $20 for anything edible under EBT guidelines and another $20 specifically for fruits and vegetables.

"This is a great program, and not enough people are taking advantage of it," Poland said adding the program is made possible through support of Seacoast Eat Local.

Vendors include Serendipity Soap, The Salted Knot, which sells pretzels; Steve's Original Sauces, Sugar mama's Maple Farm, Two Wrongs Make a Right Bakery, Potter's House, Sanborn Hope Farm, McKenzie's Farm, Big Tree Herb Farm, Fresh Start Farms, Cassie's Canning Cabinet, Shepherd Gate Flower Farm, Baby Greens Farm, which sells baby greens; East Coast Aquaponic, which sells hydroponic lettuce and mustard greens; NH Mushroom Company, Linda Hawkins Jewelry and Shaker Road Provision, which sells bacon.

Another addition this year will be free $20 raffle, with folks getting a free ticket for every vendor they buy from.

"When they leave the market they will find a volunteer at the exit," Poland explained. "They just tell the volunteer how many vendors they bought from and that number of tickets will be entered in the raffle."

Music will be provided by the Bill Cormier Duo.

The Farmers Market does not require masks. It runs every Tuesday through September.

Tomorrow's weather forecast is for a little afternoon rain. To check for weather cancellations check the Rochester Farmers Market Facebook page.
