ROCHESTER - A Farmington teen driving a moped was injured on Thursday when he ran into a car whose driver had stopped her vehicle due to a wandering dog in traffic.

Gary Williams, 19, of Farmington, was riding his moped when a Volkswagen Cabrio driven by Rhianna Llewellyn, 19, of Wolfeboro, N.H., stopped in the breakdown lane after she noticed the loose pooch, police say.

Llewellyn was headed toward Farmington on Farmington Road and had gotten out of her vehicle to assist the dog when the crash occurred.

Williams, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries and was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital by EMS.

No other injuries were reported.

The Volkswagen suffered damage to the rear bumper and trunk area, but was able to be driven from the scene. The scooter suffered extensive frontend damage and was not able to be driven.
