Fire Prevention Week event set for Home Depot

Staff Reports

ROCHESTER - The Rochester Fire Department will hold a free Fire Prevention Week event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Home Depot on North Main Street.

The focus for Fire Prevention Week this year is preventing kitchen fires.

Among the featured displays will be a smoke trailer, which simulates a smoke-filled room and helps teach children and adults how to escape to safety, said Rochester Fire Chief Norm Sanborn Jr.

Milton and Farmington fire departments are expected to participate.

There will also be firetruck tours for the kids, Sanborn added.
