If you haven't got your supplies for today's snowstorm yell, well, it's too late now.

Snow began falling in Rochester and surrounding towns around noon just as predicted, with some three to six inches expected before the fast-moving storm slides eastward Sunday morning.

Where more than an inch or two of snow falls, roads will transition from wet to slushy to snow-covered, with slippery spots likely even where a small amount of snow falls, Accuweather meteorologists reported today.

The first areas to become slippery will be elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.

"Where it snows at a decent rate, it can accumulate on roads this time of the year, including in the major cities," AccuWeather Senior Snow Warning Meteorologist Brian Wimer noted.

One saving grace: Since the storm is not terribly strong, winds are not likely to kick up enough to lead to widespread power outages.

A winter weather advisory of the region is currently in effect through 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Temperatures throughout the snowfall will hover in the low 30s with winds staying below 10 mph. For tomorrow, sunny skies will return with a high near 40.
