ROCHESTER - A Florida woman was hurt Monday when police say the car she was driving crossed the center line on Washington Street and struck a Nottingham motorist head-on.

The accident occurred around 5:50 p.m. in the area of the intersection Dry Hill Road, police said.

After a brief investigation police learned that Steven Welsh, 52, of Nottingham, was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza south when she struck a 2005 Chevy Malibu driven by Laurie Ceffalo, 51, of Deltona, Fla., who was heading in the opposite direction.

Ceffalo suffered what were described as serious but nonlife-threatening injuries and was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for treatment.

She was later charged with driving after suspension and crossing a yellow line.
