Get ready for a scorcha! Mid-summer mini-heat wave headed our way
Staff reports 12:14 p.m.
Highs for today and the weekend will leapfrog each other into the lows 90s on Sunday, with summer-like afternoon thunderstorms the only chance at relief both weekend days. The mini-heat wave will only last two days, but it will give Northern Seacoast residents a taste of what is predicted to be a very warm summer. Today it will stay fairly comfortable with a high of 83, still conducive to springtime yard work, but on Saturday that will change with both weekend days seeing highs on either side of 90. Each day there is a 40 percent chance of a afternoon thunderstorm, according to Accuweather meteorologists. Monday will get us back to more seasonable temps with a high of 69. For those contemplating installing air conditioners, you might want to plan on a Saturday hookup, due to a nighttime lows predicted to dip no lower than 65 degrees. Watch out for Wednesday, which will be another warm one, with a high of 89.
