LEBANON - When Lebanon parents sign up their children for Lebanon Youth Soccer today they can rest assured that the league has all necessary insurances, that background check will be performed on all volunteers and that Lebanon Youth Soccer is alive and well.

Lebanon Rec Director Georgie Allen, herself, has taken over the reins of the program after former president Brian Arsenault stepped down.

"The kids in this town have so little for recreation," Allen said on Tuesday. "Lebanon Youth Soccer is one that they need and deserve."

To that end Allen paid the $100 dues to Soccer Maine ensuring all liability coverages are in place for the league.

Soccer signups will be held today and next Tuesday from 5:15-6:30 p.m. in the Lebanon Elementary School gym.

The cost is $40 for the first child and $30 for each additional child.

Practices will begin in August and games will start around Labor Day, she said.

Allen is also asking parents to let her know if they would like to help as directors on the league board and has a space on player registration forms where they can volunteer for a position.

She expects this year's league to comprise about nine teams with 100 to 120 kids involved in three age-tiered divisions.

Allen, meanwhile, said she had been trying to get in contact with former league president Erik Davis, and is still awaiting information from him on league bank accounts and nonprofit tax ID numbers.

However, any immediate crisis was averted with Allen's own payment to Soccer Maine, a payment she expects to recoup after other league expenses are taken care of with this year's registration fees.

She asks anyone with questions or concerns, including Davis, to contact her at (207) 837-2138 or LebanonSoccer2015@Gmail.com.
