Herbert E. Clough ... lifelong woodsman | Herbert E. Clough

MILTON MILLS - Herbert E. Clough, also known as "Heaper," age 87, of Main Street in Milton Mills, passed into Heaven on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. He was born in Milton Mills, the son of Warren and Margarite Clough on July 24, 1930.
He married Colleen J. Morrill in 1950, with whom he had two sons, David, and Gerald.
Herbert worked many jobs, sometimes three at a time, including New England Box, a chemist for Goodall in Sanford, Maine, Head Tanner for Green Tannery and Prime Tannings in Berwick, Maine, and Lydall Industries in Rochester as a night watchman at retirement. Herbert was a woodsman most of his life, cutting hundreds of cords a year on his lot on Willey Road. This was only one of his own profit making enterprises. Others include boiler service/furnace tech., box store floor cleaning with all the uncles, or "junking" with John Bodwell.
Herbert was also an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to clam dig and smelt. He loved a good story or joke, as he had a true Yankee sense of humor.
He leaves behind his sister, Juanita Luscomb of Sanford; sons David and Terri Clough of Milton Mills and Gerald "Jerry" and Joanne Clough of Gilford; grandchildren Darrin Clough and Caleb Boone Clough; great-grandchildren Kyle Clough, Missy Clough, and Mary Jane Clough; great-great grandchildren Hunter and Holly Clough; numerous nieces and nephews, and his kitty Bailey.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Colleen, of 54 years, brothers Leon and Fred Clough, and grandson D.J. Clough.
