My first Caprese salad was outrageously yummy. (Rochester Voice photo)

ROCHESTER - One of the city's favorite watering holes is back in business after being closed for much of the winter and spring.
Formerly Porters Pub, now just Porters, opened in late March and has seen a steadily growing fan base and for good reason, which would be three-fold: good food, good drinks and good service.
I stopped in on Saturday and had a Caprese salad, my first ever but not my last.
My first reaction? How could this be the first time I ever experienced such an intoxicating culinary treat?
A Caprese salad brings to you an extraordinarily complex taste using just four simple ingredients: tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil and a balsamic vinaigrette glaze, which to me, is the driving force behind its deliciousness.
The presentation was breathtaking compared to typical pub food, and it wasn't too shabby on the palette, either.
Kudos to the chef on this version of the dish, which was out the gate in about eight minutes before I'd finished half a beer.
Porters is located at 19 Hanson St. in Rochester. You can find them on Facebook, too.

You can also reach them at 603.330.1964
