Ice cream lovers rejoice: In Milton, the latest scoop is 'The Pink House is open!'

MILTON - As it was always called so shall it be finally named. That's right. The Pink House, formerly Beak's Ice Cream, Milton's grand dame of ice cream shops, opened today with a new menu and a new ice cream, Shaker Pond Ice Cream of Alfred, Maine. "We tossed around what to name it and got a lot of feedback," said owner Mark Main, "but we finally decided to just call it what it was mostly known as, The Pink House." Main, a longtime restaurateur, bought the ice cream shop earlier this year with partner Christa Capello, who said today they had a soft opening on Friday but today was the formal opening. Both Main and Capello live in Milton and said they are looking forward to running their business. "We're excited to be working in Milton," Main, said adding some of the former staff at Beak's will be returning to work with them. Main said he's redone most of the inside of the building and added a fryolator and a grill, so they'll be serving burgers and fries among other specialty items, including a humongous lobster roll. He also said they'd be having both hard- and soft-serve ice cream.
