ROCHESTER - Girl Scout Baeleigh Benedict of Rochester is looking to make 2026 "the year" she breaks a troop record for selling Girl Scout Cookies.
And what's the goal she hopes to reach today while selling cookies at the Rochester Walmart?
2026 boxes!
"She's on a mission," said her mom, Erika Lake, the leader of Baeleigh's Troop 60244 of Rochester. "At first her goal was 1,300. Then when she got to 1,500 she said 2026 was attainable."
As of Friday the seventh-grader was at 1,937 boxes closing in fast, but it wasn't just luck that's gotten her this far. It was also a lot of work. She had her stand up and running at the Governor's Inn on Tuesday, at the Eastside Tavern on Thursday, back at the Governor's Inn on Friday and Tractor Supply on Saturday.
Today is her final day of cookie selling at Walmart where from 2-6 p.m. she'll make her "last stand" to get to her goal.
The fund-raising she's working on so hard is to attend Camp Kettleford in Bedford this summer and in the fall Camp Farnsworth in Thetford, Vt., at no expense to her parents.
"She's also trying to fund-raise to go to Japan in 2027," her mom said. "Her troop's goal is to save for supplies/badges so that families don't have to pay dues, donate wish list items to Mary's Dog Shelter, attend local field trips, and go to Rocking Horse Ranch in the fall."
