SANFORD, Maine - Located in Sanford on Washington Street not far from the Midtown Mall, Richie's Jerk & B-B-Q does a brisk business cooking up island specialties like jerk chicken, pig tail stew and coconut shrimp.

There is no indoor seating due to COVID, and we were there on Thursday, perhaps the hottest day of the summer, so most customers waited in their cars while the cook prepared the meals. Customers are given an electronic beeper that tells them when their order is ready.

We ordered the brisket with rice and beans and cole slaw, which was one of the specials of the day, for about $26 with tax.

While the brisket and rice and beans were quite delicious, both heavily spiced with flavors I had never experienced nor could name, the cole slaw was underwhelming, especially given that it complemented the other exotic tastes on the plate.

While we found this particular dish a little pricey, we will be going back due to our taste buds demanding such.
