Inaugural board of directors for Frisbie foundation expected to be named soon

ROCHESTER - The philanthropic arm of Frisbie Memorial Hospital expects to be releasing a press release in the next week or two to update the public on the filling of its inaugural board of directors, a spokesperson for the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation said on Monday.

Known as the Greater Rochester Community Health Foundation, or GRCHF, the board will be will be made up of seven people who live, work or volunteer in Strafford County,

The Hampshire Charitable Foundation comprises a statewide organization that works with more than 2,000 funds to maximize their reach in helping the citizens of New Hampshire.
The GRCHF takes over for the former Frisbie Foundation and is a result of the acquisition by for-profit health care provider HCA.
When all the contractual obligations associated with the sale of Frisbie to HCA are complete, the GRCHF could well have in excess of $21 million dollars to be managed by its board of directors. Its current assets total around $14 million.
GRCHF's mission is to "improve the health and well-being and reduce the burden of illness of people residing in Strafford County and surrounding communities," according to its website. GRCHF will do this work by awarding grants, making program-related investments, and providing other financial assistance to health and social service programs, organizations and projects that benefit the community.

The deadline for applications for the board was May 14.
GRCHF's structure will also include a community advisory committee to support the Charitable Foundation in assessing community needs and in development and implementation of its grantmaking strategy and priorities. While further details about the structure and work of the community advisory committee are still to be determined, it is expected that this committee will be formed this year. GRCHF's grantmaking is expected to begin in 2022.
