Interstate 93 crash claims life of Londonderry man
Staff reports 5:26 a.m.
DERRY - One person suffered serious injuries and later died at a hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 93. The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. on Monday on I-93 southbound near mile marker 10. An initial probe determined that a 2007 Ford Focus, occupied by Larry Niles Jr., 53, of Londonderry, had been stopped in the right breakdown lane when it was struck from behind by a 2015 Chevrolet Express van, driven by Aiden McCarthy, 22, of Dracut, Mass. After the collision, both vehicles stopped in the right breakdown lane, on the southbound side of Interstate 93. Niles Jr. was transported to an area hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries to which he ultimately succumbed, safety officials said on Wednesday. McCarthy was not hurt. No charges have been filed at this time; however, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Eric Torrens at Eric.M.Torrens@DOS.NH.GOV.
