ROCHESTER - The State Police trooper who filed a report on Sunday's crash involving a Rochester Police cruiser revealed more details about the accident today.

Trooper First Class Timothy Sawyer, whose report has been passed on to superiors, said the two-vehicle crash involving the cruiser and a Chevrolet Cruze occurred around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Portland Street and Columbus Avenue.

The Chevrolet Cruze showed some driver side, front end damage.

He said the Cruz, operated by Shirley Lacoss, 77, of Rochester, was headed eastbound on Portland Street while the cruiser, a 2017 Ford Explorer, was southbound on Columbus.

Lacoss was transported by ambulance to Frisbie Memorial Hospital as a precaution; the Rochester Police Officer, whom he declined to identify, was not injured.

Air bags in both cars did deploy, and both cars were towed from the scene.

Lacoss said the cruiser took damage to the front end while the Cruz showed some front driver side damage.

Rochester Police have had no comment on the crash as it is being investigated by State Police.

Sawyer indicated he had already finished his report and passed it up the chain of command, but had no knowledge of when a final report might be released.
