STONINGTON - An investigation into a fatal Stonington fire on Sunday has found no evidence of foul play, according to a Monday press release from the Fire Marshal's Office.

The probe found the cause of the blaze undetermined, but that an explosion preceded the blaze.

The Fire Marshal's Office is working with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta to confirm identification, but it is believed that the deceased is 71-year-old David Crutcher who lived alone at the residence.

The investigation is ongoing.
