Ipad bandit suspect turns himself in to police
Staff Reports
ROCHESTER – A man police suspect is the so-called Ipad bandit was arrested on Thursday in connection with a pair of willful concealment incidents in Rochester earlier this month. Shaun Ellis, 26, a transient, turned himself in to the Rochester Police Department on two outstanding warrants, one for a willful concealment charge from Walmart on Jan. 1 and another in connection with an incident at Kmart on Jan. 5. Bail was set at $5,000 cash pending Ellis’ arraignment today in the 7th Circuit District Division Rochester Court.
Rochester and other Seacoast police departments widely circulated surveillance images of the suspect on Jan. 15 after a spate of incidents in which Ipads or tablets were stolen from various area merchants. Police said the suspect would ask to look at an Ipad or tablet, then run out of the store with the merchandise in hand without paying for it.
