BIDDEFORD, Maine - Three Lebanon residents, including a correction officers at York County Jail, have been indicted in the smuggling of a vape into the facility.
Jason Gilpatrick, a jail guard; Christiane Hollis, an inmate; and her daughter, Jasmine Hollis were formally charged with Trafficking in Prison Contraband on Tuesday at the York County Judicial Center in Biddeford. Christiane Hollis was also charged with Violation of Conditions of Release, a misdemeanor..
An investigation began in December when York County Corrections Officers seized a vape from Christiane Hollis, 48. during a routine search of her cell. Hollis was incarcerated at the jail on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs, and Violation of Conditions of Release. An investigation was immediately launched to determine how the vape made it into the jail, York County Sheriff Bill King said in a release on Tuesday.
At the conclusion of the investigation it was determined that a former corrections officer, Jason Gilpatrick, 49, had introduced the vape into the secure facility. The investigation also determined that Christiane Hollis had conspired with her daughter, Jasmine Hollis, 21, to make contact with Gilpatrick to arrange for the delivery of the vape into the jail.
When confronted by investigators, Officer Gilpatrick immediately resigned.
Jasmine and Christiane Hollis may also face additional charges for unrelated crimes. The investigation is continuing and another subject, not affiliated with the jail, may face criminal charges as well.
