ROCHESTER - Jesse Jay Hill Sr., 70, of Old Dover Road died Saturday Feb. 8, 2020, at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, after a brief but courageous battle with a rare quick moving cancer.

He was born October 17, 1949, in Dawson, Ga., the son of Bulah May (Walker) Brown. Jay was raised by his grandmother Trudy B. Marzette and has resided in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, AL., East Orange, and Trenton, NJ and finally buying his home in Rochester.

Jay was a professional boxer with 19 fights and 19 knockouts, and a recipient of the Golden Gloves!

Jay worked many different jobs starting at age 5 cleaning the high school with his Grandmother, a baker assistant, at a slaughter house, Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard, at Heidelberg Harris and as a district manager for Fosters Dailey Democrat. Jay always had 2 or 3 jobs at one time. He opened Jay's Carpet Cleaning and Auto Reconditioning in 1991 and was known as "The Rejuvenator". His wife joined him in 2008 and together added many more services.

Jay married the love of his life, Ruth (Hanson) Hill, May 17. 2009. They would always dress alike whenever they would go out, with their favorite color being royal blue. He said his favorite color was green because it was the color of money but he really loved red, his business color.

Members of his family include his wife Ruth, siblings; Robert Benjamin of New Jersey, Hazel Hill of Birmingham, Ala., Janette Wrenn of New Jersey, Willie Hill (Peggy) of New Jersey, and Brian Brown of New Jersey. He was predeceased by his sister Cynthia Jones, and a brother, Milton, who passed as an infant. Children; Leslie of New Jersey, Ebony, Brittany, Jesse, Jr. and Acacia, all of New Hampshire, stepsons, Jason Howser and Evan Howser also of New Hampshire, and a niece who he considered to be more like a daughter then a niece, Shante Hill, of South Carolina, and 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
