MILTON - John E. Leary Jr., "Lucky", 74, of Milton, died at home after a long struggle with failing health on Saturday, July 23, 2016. He was survived by, and the husband of, Gloria J. Leary for 49 years. She was the love of his life.
Born on Oct. 10, 1941, to the parents of John E. Leary, Sr. and Estella Leary and raised in Milton Mills. He joined the Coast Guard in 1960. He was later employed as a top stitcher in numerous shoe shops, followed by 17 dedicated years at Thompson Center Arms in gun repair.
Lucky enjoyed being daring and adventurous, playing baseball, ice skating, roller skating and driving fast cars as a youth. Later he became the proud father of five enjoying family time, sitting by campfires, listening to music, sharing past stories and treasured the company of lifelong friends. He will truly be missed for his kind, loving personality and his sense of humor.
Lucky will be dearly missed by his five children, Hollie Leary and fiancé Jim, Shannon Cote and husband Joe, Erin Sibai and husband Ghanem, Heather Risso and husband Bob, John E. Leary III and wife Jennifer; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two brothers, Leslie Leary (since passed) and wife Patricia, Rodney Leary and wife Jane; Lifelong friend "brother", Bill Bowley; Brother and Sister-in-law, Bill Brown and wife Carol, Bonnie Ruff and husband Charles. In addition to many close friends and relatives.
