Knife-wielding robber steals money, cigarettes

ROCHESTER - A man who brandished a knife while robbing a Rochester gas station and convenience store over the Labor Day Weekend is still on the loose today.

The heist took place Sunday night a little before 9 p.m. when the masked suspect, described as a white male wearing a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt, showed the store clerk the knife demanding money and cigarettes from the Sunoco station at 164 Charles St.

Afterward, he fled on foot down Charles Street.

Officers arrived moments later and surrounded the area using a K9 unit in an attempt to track the suspect but were unsuccessful. Detectives also processed evidence, which is being examined.

The male is described as being between 5'4" and 5'6" with a thin build and possible dirty blonde or light brown hair. The sweatshirt he wore had a white emblem on the back near the top as well as on the bottom of the shirt on its right rear side.
