ROCHESTER - A lead organizer in recent fund-raising efforts for former Rochester mayor Doug Lachance announced today that more than $16,000 had been raised for Lachance who is battling State 4 melanoma.

The organizer, who has asked not to be named due to the spirit with which so many have donated time and material, said today he has turned over the checkbook containing $16,735.51 to Lachance, who has been unable to work much since his diagnosis earlier this year.

Lachance, a Realtor and owner of Stump City Cider, will have his next immunotherapy treatment in about 10 days and will have a scan to determine the effectiveness of the current treatments the same day.

"Thanks again for everyone's efforts in our 'Fight for Doug' a tremendous job from all involved and those who came through with donations," the fund-raising effort organizer said.

Another of the volunteers, Mark Dellner, called the recent fund-raising for Lachance "a great community effort by all the best people for all the right reasons."

"Nice job by everybody and God bless and best wishes for Doug as he proceeds on his next steps and recovery process," Dellner added.
