LEBANON - Burn Permits are required at all times for any outside fire. Permits are issued as the weather permits and as directed by the Maine Forest Service.

The forest service will announce a class day during fire danger months at about 9:30 am, the classes run from 1 (low) to 5 (extreme) fire danger, permits are only issued on class 1 + 2 days, and sometimes on a low three if the burner can show ample means of controlling the burn.

Permits are normally issued for 1 day only and to 12 p.m. or a time that is stated on permit. The fire must be completely out at that time, and the permit holder is to be with the burn at all times and must have control of it.

Proof of ownership of land and/or a letter from owner giving permission to have fires on the property is also required.

Brush and clean wood are the only items that a fire permit can be issued for, no man made products or rubbish.

No stumps or logs over 5" in diameter are allowed on a one-day permit

Permits will not be issued to anyone who has not obeyed all the open burning rules of the State and/or Lebanon in the past.
