LEBANON - State Police fielded 159 calls for service in Lebanon last month, but a check of agency records from last year shows the number consistent with calls for service in previous months.

Lt. Louis Nyitray, commander of Troop A in Alfred, said service calls for Lebanon were far above the other towns his troopers were charged with patrolling, but about the same as calls from Lebanon last year.

Beginning in March State Police and the York County Sheriff’s Office ended their practice of revolving monthly duty covering Lebanon, with the State Police now providing continuous service to the town as well as Dayton, which last month had 41 calls for service; Alfred, 90; Lyman, 11; and Hollis, 79.

However, calls for Lebanon in March were right in line with past months, including April 2012, 161; June 2012, 194; August 2012, 238; October 2012, 188; December 2012, 184; and February 2013, 166.

Nyitray said he went out on patrol In Lebanon earlier this week and within a short time had stopped three vehicles for moving violations, including one that yielded an Operating after Suspension and Operating under the Influence charge against an individual.

Nyitray said in the coming weeks his troopers will be concentrating on identifying patterns of complaints and crashes in the town with an eye toward reducing the numbers.

He said he also wants to partner with town and business leaders and other support service agencies like DHS as well as use performance measures to evaluate hoped-for reductions in crime and motor vehicle accidents.
