Lebanon Cleanup Day will include BBQ, entertainment

LEBANON - Lebanon's Cleanup Day is set for Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. when residents are invited to the Lebanon Town Office for an opening ceremony and to form groups.

Instructions, bags and rubber gloves will be given out as needed.

Lebanon Fire and EMS will also have a short discussion regarding "sharps," or needles residents may come upon, how to identify them, and how to safely dispose of them.

Residents are urged to begin on the roadways around their homes, bagging roadside debris and leaving the bags along the roads. They can also pull larger debris items from roadsides and ditches to the side of the road.
Around 11 a.m. volunteers will begin picking up the bagged trash along roads and take it to The Lebanon Transfer Station for disposal.

At noon all Cleanup Day volunteers are invited back to the Lebanon Town Hall for a series of demonstrations, recycling crafts, and a hot dog barbecue.
In addition singer Claire Bridgewater will be on hand as the featured entertainer playing a mix of children's songs and original music from noon-1:30 p.m.
Lebanon Fire and EMS will also have one of the department's ambulances for families to view.
In addition, the Lebanon Conservation Commission will be planting seeds with children and giving out information on invasive plant species and upcoming events.
This is a rain or shine event, except in the case of unanticipated violent or stormy weather.

Residents are asked not to dispose of household trash as part of the effort.

The event is hosted by Lebanon Maine Truth Seekers.
