LEBANON - Two longtime town residents who have served the town for some five decades including many times as Election Day officials, were honored for their contributions over the years on Thursday.

Henry and Lucinda Laviolette were presented a plaque by Selectperson Laura Bragg, who thanked them for their service, including helping her with Election Days when she first began her tenure as town clerk.

"What's this for?" said a surprised Lucinda Laviolette when presented with the plaque from Bragg.

"This is for 50 years of service to the town of Lebanon in grateful recognition of your dedicated service," Bragg read from the plaque.

Maine State Rep. Karen Gerrish also presented the Laviolettes with a proclamation from the state Legislature recognizing them for their 70th wedding anniversary.

"Are you trying to figure out our ages?" quipped Lucinda Laviolette.
