LEBANON - With the insertion of new IV pumps and advanced equipment in both Lebanon ambulances, Lebanon Fire and EMS has regained its paramedic license that was lost early in 2015.

The license was revoked shortly after Lebanon Fire and Rescue Chief Dan Meehan took over the department.

At the time Meehan said the paramedic license was removed because the town ambulances had no IV pumps, which are required to carry the paramedic-level license.

During a Feb. 28, 2015, meeting with townspeople he also claimed an IV pump had somehow been inserted for a September (2014) Maine EMS inspection, but a purchase order was never found and the IV pump had since disappeared. He claimed it was temporarily "planted" in the ambulance to pass inspection.

The cost for the two new IV pumps - one for each ambulance - was about $5,000.

Right now the department has one paramedic, according to its website.

Meehan was immediately unavailable for comment.
