Lebanon man hit with more indictments in sex assault case on minor

DOVER - A Lebanon, Maine, man has been hit with six more indictments in a felonious sexual assault case involving a child under 13.

David Shaw, 48, of 294 Lower Guinea Road, was indicted earlier this month by a Strafford County grand jury on four counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and two counts of felonious sexual assault in connection with an alleged yearlong pattern of abuse on a young female victim in Barrington.

The exact age of the victim is not being divulged by The Rochester Voice due to privacy concerns.

Shaw was first indicted in the case last January and the new indictments are part of a retooling of the charges, though they do include four new counts.

Assistant County Attorney Tim Sullivan, who is prosecuting the case, said the alleged victim in the case and the timeframe of the alleged assaults - between Aug. 1, 2015, and Aug. 22, 2016, are consistent with the January indictments.

Allegations in the new indictments include that Shaw had the young girl perform a sex act on him and touch his genitals more than once.

Four of the sixx indictments handed down on Thursday carry up to a life sentence, while the other two list maximum prison stints of 30 years.

Barring any plea deal, a trial is set next March.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather that a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
