ROCHESTER - A Lebanon man was charged with drug possession and several other charges after his arrest on Saturday near an area with a history of drug activity on Water Street.
Andrew Withum Bruyere, of 10 Second St., Lebanon, Maine, was initially approached by Community Engagement Officer Kyle Danie, who while on downtown bike patrol saw him emerge with a female from a thicket between Wyandotte Falls and Water Street.
According to a police affidavit the man who turned out to be Bruyere initially gave a wrong name to the officer. After refuting his claim through police records, Bruyere was placed under arrest.
During a custody search Danie found a credit card with Bruyere's name on it, a plastic baggie with a brownish substance consistent with heroin, several syringes, a spoon and Q-tips.
During the booking process Bruyere was found to have a bench warrant out of Rochester District Court and a capias out of Strafford County Superior Court. He was also currently out on bail from a separate Rochester arrest back on June 27.
Bruyere refused the services of a bail commissioner and was taken to Strafford County jail pending a Monday arraignment.
