LEBANON - With 15 build permits for new houses currently out, Lebanon Code Enforcement Officer Brian Paul admits that while the numbers don’t necessarily constitute a boom, it’s certainly an uptick.

Paul said last week that last year at this time the town had half that number and building permits applied for have been largely unchanged the past two years since he came onboard, that is until this summer.

Housing developments where residences are currently under construction include Great Brook off Upper Guinea, and Maple Estates and Wiswell Estates on Merchants Row, all being built by Rockwell Homes; and Patco on Schoolhouse Lane and Poplar Hill.

Paul, who inspects foundations, frames and insulation among other specs, said it’s made for a busy summer.

He said most of the houses being built are either, capes, ranches or colonials and seem to fit the middle-income market.

He said the house construction season usually ends in August.
