ROCHESTER - Liliane Irene Nadeau, 95, died Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Riverside Rest Home. She was born in Somersworth, N.H., on May 2, 1921. She was the daughter of Wilfred and Jesse (Ricker) Fortier.
She graduated from St. Martin's Academy and then became employed by Maybury Shoes in Rochester, where she met her husband Edgar Nadeau. After a short Courtship they were engaged. They married in 1943 at St. Martin's Church at 6:30 a.m., and Mrs. Fortier cooked breakfast for the reception at the church hall. For their honeymoon they went to Boston for a night and the next day, Edgar was drafted into service for WWII. She then took up work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a welder's helper. She continued to work there until the end of the war.
When her husband returned from the war, she established a home for the young couple and their two sons. They enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit family and friends. Irene was an excellent cook and was famous for her whoopie pies. She enjoyed family gatherings with her sons, three granddaughters and great granddaughter. She enjoyed rides to the beach and dining at local eateries. She always enjoyed a game of bingo. Irene was a faithful communicant of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Rochester, N.H.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edgar; sons Ronald and Roland and her brother Wilfred Fortier.
Survivors include her Daughter in law Gabrielle and her three daughters Jean and husband George Tsourmanis, Aimee and Jessica, great granddaughter Natalia; her sister in law Virginia Fortier many nieces and nephews.
Irene's family would like to thank Studley Home, Riverside Rest Home, and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care they have given her.
