Losing car a lucky break for one downtown reveler

ROCHESTER - You might have seen this nugget on Twitter over the weekend. "That moment when you realize forgetting where you parked your car just saved you $5,000." A man somewhere is surely thinking those thoughts today after he called police early Saturday morning to report his car had been stolen from a downtown parking lot. The call to dispatch came in around 1:40 a.m. for a male who reported his car was missing from the Union Street parking lot behind Revolution Taproom & Grill. The caller was certain it was where he'd parked his Honda sedan. After a while, the man walked to the Police Station to stay warm while police checked the downtown for his car, which was located on South Main Street by a patrol officer. Another officer offered to give the man a courtesy ride to his vehicle, but after a breathalyzer test showed he was intoxicated, he decided not to drive home, instead opting for an Uber. DWI defense lawyers often charge in the neighborhood of $5,000 for a DWI case.
