AUGUSTA - Maine Republican Party officials early today issued an alert to Republicans across the state amid a rapid increase in chatter related to potential election fraud.
The chatter relates to Maine's lack of voter identification laws and the ability of any person to impersonate a voter who has yet to cast their ballot.
"Without a proper voter ID law in Maine we are concerned people may attempt to impersonate other voters in order to gain access to, and cast, a fraudulent ballot," Maine Republican Party Executive Director Jason Savage stated in an email sent out around 1 a.m. "We encourage all Maine Republican voters to show up at the polls and vote so that they can be sure no one attempts to use their identity to cast a ballot."
Savage urged Republicans to cast ballots in-person as early in the day as possible to ensure their names are marked on voter lists early as having already voted.

"Voting as early as possible on Tuesday will help stop bad actors," added Savage.
Any voter who is told that a ballot has already been cast in their name is asked to notify Maine GOP via the following channels:
