Maine motorcyclist seriously hurt in Gonic crash

GONIC - A Maine motorcyclist was seriously injured on Friday when his bike collided with an SUV on Gonic Road.

The crash occurred around 11:35 a.m. at the intersection of Gonic Road and Church Street where police say a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Michael J. Ury, 57, of Epping, NH, pulled out of Church Street to head south on Gonic Road when he collided with the 2011 Harley Davidson. The man on the motorcycle, Christian T. Swan, 40, of Buxton, who was traveling north with a passenger, was seriously injured and transported first to Frisbie Memorial Hospital and then to Portsmouth Regional.

His passenger, Chelsea M. Richards, 30, of Portsmouth, was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as minor injuries. Neither was wearing a helmet.

Ury and his passenger, Allison Kelley, 54, old of Epping, were injured.

Ury was issued a citation for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

Gonic Road was closed for just under an hour during the investigation. Rochester Police were assisted by the Strafford County Sheriff's department with traffic control. Both the car and motorcycle were towed from the scene. The case remains under investigation.
