Man accused in Dover shoot spree taken into custody by SWAT team in Rochester

DOVER - A man accused in a early morning shooting spree on Monday in Dover has been charged with multiple crimes following his arrest at a Rochester hotel later in the day.

The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. as Dover Police responded to shots being fired on Fourth Street.

Once on scene officers were able to locate several witnesses who reported a man fired multiple shots from a pistol after an altercation in the street, according to a statement from Dover police.

The witnesses described the subject as firing shots into the ground and into the air. They also reported the man pointed the pistol at a specific individual, and that the suspect had left the area prior to police arrival.

After a preliminary investigation Christopher E. Mills, 31, of 40 Littleworth Road, Dover, was identified as the suspect.

He was charged with two counts of Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon, a Class A felony, and one count of Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon, also a Class A felony.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Mills is being held at the Strafford County House of Correction and is scheduled for arraignment in Dover District Court at 10 a.m. today.
