ROCHESTER - The New Durham man arrested on Monday in the robbery of a Farmington Road gas station and an earlier attempted robbery at the North Main Street Subway is the same man who robbed a Rochester bank in 2018.
Jarrod Hoage 34, of New Durham, was charged with two felony counts of robbery in the most recent arrest.
Police got involved in his latest alleged heist around 6 p.m. on Monday for a report of an attempted robbery at the Subway where witnesses said a male walked into the store with his face covered and demanded money, according to Rochester Police.
The male appeared as though he had something in his pocket during this incident, but when the clerk refused to give the male any money he left the store on foot in an unknown direction.
About three hours later while still investigating the Subway incident, Rochester Police responded to the Shell Gas station on Farmington Road around 9:20 p.m. for the report of another robbery.
At the second scene police learned that a male had walked into the store, approached the counter and demanded money from the register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the suspect left the store in the direction of Little Falls Bridge Road, according to police.
The suspect was described exactly as the male that had just been at the Subway.
Officers soon after were able to locate the suspect fleeing the area by using an old railroad bed not far from Farmington Road. Police say they also received a tip from a snowmobiler of a person walking the trail behind the Ford Dealership on Farmington Road which helped the search for the suspect, who was finally located along the wood line next to the Ford Dealership.
In June of 2018 Hoage, at the age of 27, was arrested in the robbery of a Northeast Credit Union branch on Columbus Avenue.
Hoage was taken into custody about six hours after the robbery.
The incident occurred a little before 1:40 p.m. when police said a lone male entered the Northeast Credit Union at 694 Columbus Ave. and handed the teller a note demanding cash.
Hoage then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Later that evening the arrest was made at Hoage's New Durham home.
The Rochester Voice was not immediately able to confirm the sentencing outcome of Hoage's alleged bank job in 2018.
He remains held on no bail at Strafford County Jail in Dover, jail personnel said today.
