Mark your calendars: National Night Out celebration set for Aug. 6

ROCHESTER - Rochester Police announced on Friday that they will hold their annual National Night Out celebration at Rochester Common on Aug. 6.
The celebration is held nationwide the first Tuesday in August to strengthen relationships between police and fire officials and the public.
Rochester's National Night Out event is family friendly and free to attend.
First responders from the Rochester Police and Fire Departments will be present, and both departments will bring a variety of vehicles for the public to see and tour.
Representatives from Rochester Recreation, Rochester Schools, Rochester Main Street and the Rochester Child Care Center will also be in attendance.
The event which runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m., will also feature a variety of local food options, as well as games, live music, a dunk tank and farm animals. Following the event, an after hours movie will be shown at the Common courtesy of Guyer Travel.
"National Night Out is a unique opportunity for the community and members of the department to connect with one another, and I encourage everyone to plan on attending for an evening of fun and activities," Chief Paul Toussaint said. "We're all looking forward to renewing this annual tradition."
