ROCHESTER - A woman distracted by an ailing child passenger led to a Portland Street crash on Saturday.

Police say the accident occurred in the area of 600 Portland St. around 10:30 a.m. when Julia Davis, 36, of Rochester, was driving south in her 2018 Subaru Legacy when a juvenile passenger in the vehicle began suffering from a medical problem.

The vehicle then left the roadway and struck a utility pole, severing it, before crashing into a large tree.

The roadway was shut down for a short time while the utility company secured the pole.

There were no injuries.
