Milan man charged with DWI in Dummer crash that injures several bikers

DUMMER - Two motorcyclists were seriously injured and a Milan man was charged with DWI in a Saturday crash on Route 16.

The crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. when a 2014 Ford Mustang collided with two motorcycles, according to State Police.

The driver of the Mustang, Ronald J. Hamel, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Police say Hamel was traveling southbound when he collided with two of the motorcycles.

The drivers of two of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries, according to safety officials, while a driver and passenger on another bike not directly involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.

Hamel was treated for non-life threatening injuries, bailed and released pending his arraignment at a later date.

The Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit took over the investigation because of its severity and the crash remains under investigation.
