Milton home razed by apparent electrical fire on Friday
Staff reports 7:16 a.m.
MILTON - A Milton home burned spectacularly to the ground Friday night with multiple videos showing the fire apparently starting when a tree fell on power lines igniting the residence's electrical meter some four hours before firefighters were summoned. One video showing the house engulfed in flames was taken about 15 minutes prior to Milton and Wakefield fire being notified, according to a post on the Milton Fire Facebook page. The two departments were simultaneously toned a little before 7 p.m. and found the house at 2176 Lovell Road engulfed in flames. Within a few minutes the Wakefield chief and an engine from Wakefield were on scene to find the driveway was impassable due to a downed power line. First-arriving companies stretched a 2.5-inch line through the woods and split it down to two hand lines to begin exterior operations.
Additional units from Milton and Acton Fire and Rescue arrived, and the fire was quickly knocked down and overhaul proceeded for the hour. All fire and EMS units cleared the scene just after 9 p.m. Videos posted on the Milton Fire and Rescue Facebook page show rare footage of several phases of fire growth. The first indication of fire was shortly after 3 p.m. nearly four hours prior to the initial 911 call. Lovell Lake Road or Route 109 is in the northern most part of Milton with only a handful of homes on the south side of the road actually being in Milton. No other information on the fire was immediately available.
