Milton tax rate edges up 3 percent

MILTON - Milton's new tax rate has been set at $26.71, an increase of 83 cents over last year, which amounts to a 3.2 percent hike.

The former mil tax rate was $25.88.

The new rate means the owner of a $150,000 home in town would pay just over $4,000 in property taxes for one year.

The new rate comprises the following rates set: town tax, $8.56; school, $12.98: state education, $2.37; and county, $2.80.

Tax bills will likely be mailed out this month and are generally due 30 days later.
