BEDFORD - 1^st Dist. Republican candidate Matt Mowers conceded his loss to incumbent Democrat Chris Pappas today while thanking his supporters and acknowledging it's important for Congress to get back to the work of the people amid these difficult times.

"I want to congratulate Congressman Pappas on a hard-fought victory and wish him well as he serves our nation and our state," Mower said. "Now that the campaign is behind us, I hope that Congress gets to work. Small businesses need critical relief, middle class families need economic opportunity and our first responders need our support."

With almost 96 percent of the vote in by 11 a.m. today, Pappas had 51 percent of the vote to Mowers' 46 percent.

Mowers, of Bedford, said in a statement sent today that he will be forever grateful for the support he received throughout the Granite State.

"I am grateful to all of my supporters, whose enthusiasm energized me every day on the campaign trail and allowed us to run a strong race that presented the voters with a clear choice," he said. "From day one, this race has always been about standing with those who feel forgotten by Washington politicians, whether it's our law enforcement community or middle-class families trying to make ends meet."
