N.H. Red Cross volunteers deploy to Carolinas to help with Dorian relief effort

CONCORD - Red Cross volunteer from the New Hampshire are preparing to deploy to North Carolina as Hurricane Dorian continues to strengthen and takes aim at the southeast coast of the United States.
Marni Kozak of Wentworther is among those who will deploy today to Durham, N.C. as a Shelter Service Associate to support a Red Cross shelter to help those displaced.

The American Red Cross is working around the clock to prepare for Hurricane Dorian and help people who have been forced to evacuate as this extremely dangerous storm tracks towards the U.S. coast.

While the exact path of Dorian is still uncertain, millions of people live in areas that could be impacted by wind, rain, flooding and a high storm surge, even if the storm doesn't make direct landfall on the coast.

As the Red Cross mobilizes hundreds of volunteers, 110 emergency response vehicles and 104 tractor trailer loads full of relief supplies, we have also pre-positioned additional blood products and stocked many of our hospitals to capacity in areas of the Southeast likely to be impacted by the storm.

For those in Dorian's path, the Red Cross urges residents to get prepared now. Follow your local news for the latest updates and prepare to evacuate quickly if local officials tell you to do so. Download the American Red Cross Emergency App to help you locate your local Red Cross shelters and to help you prepare your home, your pets and family before the disaster strikes.
