N.H. woman, N.Y. man nabbed in major FBI-assisted drug bust

ALFRED, Maine - The York County Sheriff's Office announced a major drug seizure was made in Springvale on Saturday.

According to a Tuesday press release from York County Sheriff William L. King Jr., the bust occurred around 11 p.m. when Sheriff's Deputies, Maine State Troopers, Maine's PACE Unit and FBI agents stopped a vehicle.

Arrested were Freddy Michel Peguero-Matos, 27, of Boston, and Laurie A. Fantasia, 45, of Nashua, N.H. They were both charged with aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs, a Class A felony.

The vehicle stopped was found to contain about 350 grams of suspected fentanyl with a street value estimated at approximately $36,500.

No further details regarding the arrests were disclosed by King.

Peguero-Matos remains in jail with a $100,000 bail, while Fantasia has a bail of $50,000. Both are scheduled for court appearances in York County Superior Court in Alfred in early October.
